Rachel Klamer claims first Triathlon European Championship title in Turkey

 

Madrid, Spain (12 June 2013) -Rachel Klamer (NED) earned her first European title in a down to the line sprint finish in Alanya, Turkey on Friday. In a five-way battle for three medals, Klamer was the one who bumped up her speed in the final metres to beat out Great Britain’s Vicky Holland by just two seconds. Holland took silver, while Vendula Frintova (CZE) scored bronze to taker her second European Championships medal.

Ivan Vasiliev (RUS) continues hot streak in Turkey with first European Championship title Madrid, Spain (12 June 2013) – Ivan Vasiliev (RUS) continued his successful season at the 2013 Alanya ETU Triathlon European Championships on Saturday, winning his first European title. Alessandro Fabian (ITA) executed a strong race plan from start to finish for silver, while Mario Mola (ESP) smoked the run yet again to make up nearly two minutes off the bike for bronze, each claiming their first elite European Championship medals.

Victory for Murray in France

 

Richard Murray won the past weekend’s French Grand Prix Sprint Triathlon in Les Sables d’Olonne, France. It was his first French Grand Prix win. Spain’s Javier Gomez finished second followed by Aurélien Lebrun.

The conditions were quite challenging with some rain falling and newly painted white lines. “I’m really glad I didn’t crash. I did feel my rear tire slip out on more than one occasion,” said Murray. “The swim was very cold and the bike leg very slippery. It was a contest of the skilled and those who survived.”

Sparkasse Challenge Kraichgau decided with Stein and van Vlerken victorious

9 JUNE 2013 – Boris Stein (GER) and Yvonne van Vlerken (NED were today crowned the champions of Sparkasse Challenge Kraichgau presented by KraichgauEnergie with Stein also taking out the German National Half Distance Championship title.

The day started with an hour’s delay due to bad weather and wasn’t without its drama. Challenge Wanaka champion, Dylan McNeice (NZL) was second out of the water but a tumble just two kilometres into the bike effectively put an end to his race although he did finish. In the women’s the same happened to women’s leader Danielle Sämmler (GER) who crashed at the first roundabout with the resulting mechanical damaging taking her out of the race.

Billard’s win was a treat for local French fans, while Hauschildt’s gold came as a surprise as it was her first time ever competing in an ITU Long Distance race.

Stanford earns first WTS title

Non Stanford (GBR) earns first WTS title with win at World Triathlon Season Madrid Madrid, Spain (1 June 2013) -

Non Stanford (GBR) stole the show under the hot Madrid sun with a blistering performance at the ITU World Championship Series on Saturday to claim her first WTS title. After a solid swim saw her exit the water just outside the top ten, Stanford made her way through the field on the 40km bike and then never looked back in the 10km run as she hammered further and further ahead.

Schoeman Dominates to become African Triathlon Champion

2013 Agadir ATU Triathlon African Championships

 

South Africa swept both the men’s and women’s podiums at the ATU African Championships this weekend. Despite exiting the water more than a minute down on the leaders, Gillian Sanders posted an impressive bike leg and even stronger run to earn the continental title. Anel Radford led the contingency of women on the swim, but her head start slipped away from her on the run. Radford finished as the runner up, while Carlyn Fischer rounded out the podium in third.

Henri Schoeman, who recently broke into the top 10 in a World Triathlon Series race in Yokohama, claimed the men’s African Championships title with a wire to wire win. Schoeman and Junior World Champion Wian Sullwald went head for head until they hit the run, when Schoeman gained an insurmountable lead, leaving Sullwald with silver. Wikus Weber also stayed with the leaders until the run, when he faded slightly behind for bronze.
